the deluge

you know how they say When it rains, it pours.... well at my house, it's been the deluge, literally and figuratively...

First my husband came down with a big fever and cold just days before the tv shoot, then I got the foot thing that still won't go away. Because of those two things, we sent Dumpling to Grandma's house 2 nights earlier than anticipated..... 5 nights total, way too much for all involved.

Then there was the 3 days of which I am allowed to say nothing until a week after the airdate of Aug 6th. so we came home Friday night to a house in pretty good shape, save for a ton of furniture that didn't go back in the room was now in the middle of our basement TV room. And there was a weird odor coming from the furnace room. But we were too tired to investigate... The next morning, the odor was worst, so hubby checked it out, only to find 3 to 4 inches of water in the furnace room, threatening to leak over into the rest of the basement. So a plumber was called, a camera was inserted and we found out that the pipe connecting our house to the city sewer had given way under the roots of our stunning century-old maple tree and we will need to find an excavation company to come remedy the situation ASAP.

So with a smelly basement, a caughing husband and a gimpy foot, we set about to rest for the weekend, but I came down with a wicked sinus-thing.... probably just allergies, but I felt like crap all day Sunday. The only bright spot was the we worked so hard to get the new staff up to speed, we have been able to hand over the reigns of the new store faster than anticipated and didn't need to go in at all this weekend.

Which proved to be even more of a blessing when the cherry on the sunday of this disaster occured: while our dear friends D and A were visiting and checking out our house, my dear hubby noticed that our beloved Lucy's left ear was sort of just hanging and droopy. Went he went to touch it, it was like it was completely filled with blood....

Off they went to the emergency vet, where she had to have it drained and came home looking like she was wearing a water-polo helmet, along with one of those lampshade thingies.....

And just because that's not enough, the regular vet looked at it today: it was completely refilled with fluid, so she's spending the night there with no food or water and having surgery tomorrow.... We are besides ourselves, because our little Lucy-poo has had more than her share of Tsuris, from being abandoned to cmoing down with these nasty allergies that have now caused her to scratch until her ear blead......

And of course, Dumpling is looking for her everwhere: Mama? Zhizhi???

Wow!!!!!!! All the more reason to make sure that wherever I am in the world on August 6 I get to watch the show. Holy Shnikeys...that's a lot of dealing you've been dealing with! Hope Someone gives you a little relief soon!!!

Holy Cow! I do hope that at least the thing of which you are not allowed to speak turned out well and not something, for example, covered with hay or assorted items stapled to the walls. Not that I would know anything about why that would have anything to do with anything.

Hang in there.
