One of the things I enjoy best in life is entertaining. Nothing makes me happier that having a bunch of friends over for a BBQ in the summer, sipping home-made sangria, munching on hubby's best-grilled grub and watching Dumpling run around the yard with the dogs (and friends, she has friends now, don't you know!)
Last summer, in our new house, we had a few people over. But this summer is shaping up to be a real fun one. We're already on our 5th or 6th BBQ. Just this past Sunday, we had so many friends sitting around the new patio table, I was afraid the patio might give way...
The neighbour kid (7 years old) calls me very politely on the phone several times a day to check that he can still come swim at 4 when Dumpling is up from her nap and I'm back from work. Today, he brought his brother and a friend. And my playgroup-buddy came over with 3 of her 4 kids. And my MIL came over with one of our nieces. Yep, that's 8 kids in the pool, with 4 adults splashing about.
In the midst of it all, my lovely friend D called from the meat section of the grocery store, looking to trade grub for A/C and a dip in the pool. Since D and her equally lovely hubby A (with whom Dumpling has been enamored for a full year) are moving back to TO at the end of July and I am so heart-broken about it I refuse to even discuss it, I was more than thrilled to have them over.
So from 3:30 til 8:30, there were people in the pool, people on the patio, smiles on all the faces.... I loved every minute of it. Maybe I should just turn my house into a Kibbutz and have everyone stay over.
And speaking of staying over, what do you think the chances are that I'll get Figlet to visit her old haunts and come show off LSP when she gets home... that's right, Figlet's a Mommy!
