Then, I started running through scenarios:
#1: They get through most of August in October, but we get our referral in November. This is the best case scenario for us, because it means January travel, which means no hiring of temporary managers and supervisors for the holiday gift giving season at the stores. Also, Jan through March is quiet at work, much easier for everyone if I'm not around and only available by phone.
#2: They actually get to September 5th in October, which means December travel. Bad, very bad, work wise. Involves the emergency hiring of supervisors and managers, lots of training and lots of stress while away.
#3, They slow down like crazy, we get a December referral, which means we have to wait until after Chinese new year to travel. Bad, because that is a LONG time away.
most likely is #1, but there is a monkey wrench in this plan... You see, our file left Canada on Aug 12th and we got an LID of Sept 5th. But the batch of file that left on Aug 16th got an LID of Aug 25th, and the batch that left Aug 19th got and LID of sept 5th with us. So somehow, there was a chronological anomaly. We think it's because our file was attached to our friend's file, requesting two babies from the same orphanage (our older girls shared a crib and we asked to travel together again). But now the agency hinted that maybe, just maybe, the Sept 5th LID is not right, and we are actually Aug 25th, in which case Scenario #2 would be more likely....
Did you get all that???
But that is not really why I am panicking..... You see, the babies, they have been very young lately. That Girl's baby will be home a good 2 months BEFORE her first birthday. If we are lucky enough to be referred a young baby, we have a tiny problem..... Dumpling was 14 months when I met her, in the hottest month of the year. The smallest baby clothes I have are all summer dresses and tank tops!!!! Now, if the baby is really young, we simply have to buy some tiny winter clothes, and by the summer, we'll have a toddler that will fit in all the hand-me downs. But if we are referred a toddler, the problem will be a life long wrong-seasoned-sized clothing..... I will need toddler clothes for this winter, which we didn't have for Dumpling, and by the time summer rolls around, all of Dumpling's old clothes will be the wrong size..... Of course, the solution is shopping, but it's just giving me a little anxiety right now.....
So there, I am officially starting to panic about Sprout's arrival.
