Free Swim. That's what I decided to call my first doll quilt, which will be mailed tomorrow to my swap partner. Those fishies have been locked up for so long, they needed to go for a swim. I went crazy for this project last month right after the assignment of partners. And then, I froze. I was totally intimidated.
By what others where putting together, by my swap partner's proficiency as a quilter, but my lack of creativity. I was just frozen, and the top stayed on a shlef for 3 weeks. Then, the friendly reminder that the deadline was tomorrow came this weekend, and I just went for it. I let go of my fears and just finished it. I'm not a great free-hand machine quilter, so the bubbles around the fish ended up looking more like crazy line, but I still got the fluidity and motion I was after.
I hope my swap recipient is happy would it and her kiddos enjoy playing with it. It's no master piece, but I had a good time working on it.
